Son of Charles and Maud Emily (nee BELL) TAYLOR.
His parents married 1883 in the Holborn, London, district. Charles died 1937 in Watford aged 82, and was buried 14 October in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford. Maud possibly died 1939 in the Bedford district aged 73.
Leonard was born 12 July 1895 in Watford, and baptised 21 August 1895 at St Mary’s, Watford. He attended Beechen Grove Board School, Watford, from 14 April 1902 to 16 July 1909.
On the 1901 Census, aged 5 he lived in Watford, with his parents and five siblings. On the 1911 Census, an errand boy aged 15, he still lived in Watford, with his parents and three siblings.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Hertford; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914 Star medals, his qualifying date being 22 August 1914, and was killed in action.

Unfortunately, Leonard’s Service record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
