Albert was the son of George and Eliza Bennett, of Wood End, Ardeley, Stevenage, Herts.

Wartime Service

He was an original member of the 2nd Battalion and landed with them in France on the 6th October 1914. Albert served with the Battalion for the duration of his time on the Western Front. On the 3rd January 1918 the Battalion were in the front line near Polderhoek. They were heavily shelled by German artillery which killed three Other Ranks and wounded another four.
