Pre War
Harold Robert Pybus, born 1892, was the second son of Robert Pybus, Solicitor, and Agnes Josephine He was educated at Charterhouse (1904 -07) and Aldenham school.
He was a solicitor's clerk, articled to his father, in 1912.
Wartime Service
At the outbreak of war he gained a commission as 2nd lieutenant and in Feb 15 was promoted to Lieutenant in 4th Battalion Durham Light Infantry and went to France 17 Aug 1915.
He had been wounded and was on home leave when he died on 24th July 1916. Riding a motorcycle with a pillion passenger and also in foggy weather near Seaham Harbour, Northumberland, they were in collision with a Pony and Trap. Harold died from his injuries but his passenger survived.

Additional Information
His older brother, Hugh Pybus served with RFA in France from 1915 rising to Rank of Major at the end of the conflict and further served on North West Frontier in India in 1919. His younger brother, Gilbert Douglas Pybus was commissioned In Indian Army rising to Rank of Lt. Colonel.
