Born on 21 Oct 1890 in Luton, Bedfordshire son Rev Canon Elgood George Punchard, D.D. and Catherine Mary (Johnson) Punchard later of St. Mary's Street, Ely, Cambs. Educated at Haileybury College 1902-08 and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst 1909–10. Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant 5 Oct 1910 and promoted to Lieutenant on 11 Jun 1912.
Wartime Service
Entered Belgium at Zeebrugge on 8 Oct 1914 and was killed in action during the first Battle of Ypres near Gheluvelt.
Additional Information
Brother of Major Alfred Punchard who was killed in action on 29 March 1917 in Iraq and is also commemorated on these memorials.
