Pre War
Frederick Harry Puddephatt was born in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, in 1882, son of Alfred Harry Puddephatt, a Farm Worker and Mary Ann Puddephatt (nee Arnold). One of nine children two died in infancy.
1891 Census records Frederick aged 10, at school, living with his parents and five siblings in, Tile House Farm Cottages, Theobald Street Aldenham, Herts.
1901 Census records Frederick aged 19, working as a Labourer in the Brickyard, living with his parents, brothers, Charles (27), Alfred (13), and sister Ellen (14) at, No.1, Hut, Brickfield, Borehamwood, Herts.
Frederick married Ellen Hobbs, the daughter of Jonathon and Emma Hobbs of Flamstead, Herts, on 22 November 1903, at St Andrews Church, Ashley Place, Westminster, London. They went on to have six children, Frederick Cecil, born October 1905, Arthur, born and died 1906, Hilda Elizabeth, born September 1907, Ellen Maud, born January 1913, Elsie Beatrice V, born May 1916, and Grace S, born August 1917.
1911 Census records Frederick, as married to Ellen, they have two children Cecil (6), and Hilda (3), and they were living with his father-in-law, Jonathan Hobbs at, 9, Brownlow Road, Borehamwood, Herts.
Wartime Service
Frederick enlisted at Watford, Herts, served with the Royal Army Medical Corps with the service number 95998.
He died on 5 November 1918, at the Military Hospital, Purfleet, Essex, of Bronchitis, Asthma, caught while on Active Service and subsequent Cardiac Failure,

His wife, Mrs. E. Puddephatt, 9, Brownlow Rd, Boreham Wood, Herts., ordered his headstone inscription: "Mrs. E. Puddephatt, 9, Brownlow Rd, Boreham Wood, Herts."
Ellen received a Widows Pension of 37/11, a week from 12 May 1919, her Pension record card records her address as, 9, Brownlow Road, Borehamwood, Herts, and his effects of £9-18s-1d, Pay Owing and War Gratuity of £7-10s-00d.
