Born in 1883 in Hertford son of Frederick Thomas and Annie Prior and living in 6 Tamworth Street, Hertford in 1901 and educated at Hertford Grammar School. He was a boarder in Horeham Road, Waldon, Sussex in 1911 working as a joiner.


He married Frances Alice Clapham in 1912 in Hertford and they lived in "Ivanhoe,", Horeham Road, Sussex.

Wartime Service

Enlisted on 29 Jun 1916, he was a carpenter in the R.A.F. He died of pneumonia in Dundee War Hospital, Scotland.

Additional Information

Fredericks grave in Hertford (All Saints) Churchyard (not CWGC) bears the inscription:

FREDERICK WILLIAM PRIOR 1ST A.M (air mechanic) R.A.F.DIED NOVEMBER 6TH 1918, AGED 35 YEARS.
