Frederick Arthur was born in in 1883 to David Poulter, a labourer and Eliza (nee Wood).


Frederick was living with his parents and younger brothers Alfred and William at Havering Street Havering Essex on the 1891 Census. By the 1911 Census Frederick was working as a gardener domestic, there had been the addition of a sister, Edith and the family were living at Lower Village, Havering Atte Bower. On the 1911 Census Frederick, still working as a gardener, was a boarder at 216 High Street Barnet, Hadley with the Lilley family. Frederick married Florence Eliza Amies at Christ Church, Cockfosters in 1914.

Wartime Service

Frederick enlisted as Private 225312 in the Northamptonshire Regiment (no Service record could be found). He was also recorded as Private 168070 in 696 Agricultural Labour Corps. This would have been after becoming unfit for 'fighting' duties usually due to illness or injury.


Frederick died on 22 Feb 1919 at Graylingwell War Hospital, Chichester. He is buried at Christ Church, Cockfosters
