George Joseph Seguin was born on 21 Nov 1894 to George Seguin Portch, a letter sorter in the Post Office and Harriet Emma (nee Elborn).
They were living at Ommaney Road, Deptford London. George became a Messenger Boy in the Post Office in 1911.
Wartime Service
George enlisted in 8th (City of London) Battalion, London Regiment,(Post Office Rifles) as Private 2351 later being given the serial number 370619. He went to France with his Battalion on 18 Mar 1915.
In May 1916 his Battalion took over part of the Front Line near Vimy Ridge from French troops. There was considerable work needed to improve the trenches. Before all the work was completed the Germans launched an attack on 21 May 1916, gaining ground which was not recovered until the Canadian attack in 1917.
George was presumed to have been killed on 21 May 1916. He is remembered on the Arras Memorial.
