Pre War

Francis Charles William Pocock was born in 1899 to Francis Pocock, clerk, Ada (nee Womack).


On the 1901 Census the family of parents, and Francis were living at 155, Purves Road, Willesden, Hendon, Middx.


On the 1911 Census the family of Parents, Francis, Olive Mary (born 1902), Florence Ellen (born 1906) and Kathleen Ada (born 191) were living at 26, Mallinson Road, Battersea.

Wartime Service

Francis was called forward for service (No Service Record was found) shortly before his 18th Birthday.


He was posted to the Training Reserve as Private TR/10/ 27388 in 31st Battalion, a Royal Fusilier affiliated unit. He was taken ill while under training and died on 27 Mar 1918 in Hospital at Dover.

Additional Information

War Gratuity not awarded, arrears of £2 3s 0d was paid to his father.


His mother, Mrs A Pocock, while living at 26, Mattinson Rd., Wandsworth Common, London, ordered his headstone inscriptionm which reads: "BLESSED ARE THE PURE IN HEART".
