He was born to Edith ann ( enesharpe) in Dover. His Father  was Edaed W Barclay an orgaist and Music Teacher.

Edawrd WH was educated at Chiverton Elms Prep school, dover and Aldenham School. He was commissione as 2nd Lieutentant in Ox and Bucks Light Infantry (probsbly 1917)

His headstone inscription was ordered by Mrs E W Barclay, c/o London & County Westminster Parrs Bank, Dover, Kent: "In Loving Memory".
