Frederick Picton was born in 1898 in Great Missenden, Bucks, the son of Wiliam and Kate Picton.
On the 1901 Census the family were living at Field End, Great Missenden where his father was a general labourer and pheasant breeder. By 1911 they had moved to Old Barn Cottage, Warnham, Sussex, where his father was 'Keeper' (Gamekeeper).
They later lived at Kings Ash, The Lee, Great Missenden, Bucks.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in Chester and served with the 21st Battalion, Manchester Regiment.
Death was assumed between 24-27 October 1917 during the Battle of Passchendaele. He has no known grave and his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
Additional Information
His father received a war gratuity of £3 and pay owing of £3 4s 10d. The connection with Hemel Hempstead is not known, although Great Missenden is quite close, being approximately 15 miles away from Hemel Hempstead.
