Son of Jane (nee CLARK) PICTON of Watford, and the late Albert PICTON.

His parents married 29 June 1884 at St Giles’, Chalfont St Giles, Bucks.  Albert died 1914 in Watford aged 56, and was buried 13 August in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford; Jane died 1936 in Watford aged 77, and was buried 5 December, also in Vicarage Road Cemetery.

Albert was born 1888 in Watford, and baptised 25 May 1892 at St Andrew’s, Watford.

On the 1891 Census, aged 2 he lived in Watford, with his parents and three siblings.  On the 1901 Census, aged 12 he still lived in Watford, with his parents and eight siblings.  On the 1911 Census, a packing case maker aged 22, he still lived in Watford, with his parents and six siblings.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Watford, and was formerly 1926 Royal Field Artillery.  He was entitled to the Victory and British War medals, and was killed in action.  

Additional Information

Unfortunately, Albert’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.

There is a brief article about and a Death announcement for Albert in the West Herts and Watford Observer dated 12 May 1917, and another Death announcement in the issue dated 19 May 1917; plus an In Memoriam in the issue dated 12 April 1919.
