Hertford Town Memorial
Pre War
Born in 1888 in Hertford son of Henry and Harriett Bailey and was living in 3 Oak Street in 1901.
He married Catherine Ellen Giblenn on 14 Aug 1910 in Hertford and they lived initially with his father-in-law at 28 Thornton Street, Hertford and later at 135 Dynever Road, Stoke Newington and had one son. He was a butcher.
Wartime Service
Enlisted on 12 Dec 1915 in Hertford and entered France on 8 Sep 1916. He died in Katesgrove Hospital in Reading of gunshot wounds to the leg and chest.
Additional Information
An 'In Memorium' notice was placed in the Hertford Mercury in June 1918 by his wife and little son Will. At that time she was living at 133 Dynevor Road, Stoke Newinggton. N 15.
