Born on 25 Jun 1886 in 1 Horn’s Mill Road, Hertford and baptised on 2 Apr 1890 in St Andrew’s Church, Hertford son of Abel and Ellen (Taylor) Petts. He married Eliza Street on 10 May 1908 in St Andrew’s Church, Hertford and was living in 14 Russia Court, Dimsdale Street, Hertford in 1911 and had two children. He was a general labourer.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at Hertford and was killed in action in fighting at the Battle of Festubert..

Brother of Private Abel Petts who was killed in action on 25 Nov 1915 and is also commemorated on these memorials.
