William George Petchey (G Petchey on the war memorial) was born in 1894, the son of James and Elizabeth of Church End, Albury. In 1901 his father was an agricultural worker. In 1911 he is still at home with his parents and working as a stockman.

Wartime Service

He enlisted into the Bedfordshire Regt, but was transferred to the North Lancashires, on whose Roll of Honour he appears.
