George was born in 1898 in Albury, the son of Thomas and Selina Petchey of Albury Lodge cottage, where in 1901 his father was recorded as a workman on a farm with cattle. In 1911 he was still living with his parents, but his father's first name was given

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Bedford, into the Cambridgeshire Regt (service number 330919), but later transferred to the Lancashire Fusiliers.

Additional Information

After his death he was recorded as the son of Thomas and Selina Petchey, of Albury Lodge Cottage, Hadham, Herts.
