Pre War

Born on 28 May 1872 in Eastbourne, Sussex son of Capt. Kenrick Verulam Bacon J.P. and Jessie (Wing) Bacon of Hale, Farnham, Surrey. Educated at the United Services College 1887-90. He was unmarried. Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant on 4 Oct 1893 from the militia, promoted Lieutenant 14 Dec 1896 and Captain on 14 Feb 1900. Served in the South African war 1899-1902. Mentioned in Dispatches (10 Sep 1901). Promoted to Major on 1 Apr 1909 and served in South Africa, Ceylon, India and Cairo until the outbreak of WW1.

Wartime Service

Killed in action near Neuve Chapelle.

Additional Information

United Services College, Westward Ho, Devon amalgamated with Imperial Service College in Windsor in 1912 and then moved to Haileybury College, Hertford Heath in 1942.
