Born on 11 Feb 1895 in Kelvedon Hatch, Essex son of the Rev. Canon David Wilkie Peregrine and Constance Mary Peregrine of Branstonby-Belvoir, Grantham. Educated at Haileybury 1908-13 and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst.

Wartime Service

He entered France on 13 Apr 1916. On the first day of the Battle of the Somme on 1 Jul 1916 he was with “C” Coy 1st Bn. East Yorks in the assembly trenches between Fricourt and La Boiselle. Their first objective was the sunken Road between Fricourt and Contalmaison which they achieved. Lieutenant Peregrine was killed during this attack. His body was not recovered.
