Pre War

Born on 1 Dec 1896 son of Frederick Bernard and Mary Ann Dupont (Bell) Pemberton of Mountjoy, Victoria, B.C., Canada. Educated at Haileybury College 1909-13. He sailed on the Lusitania leaving Liverpool for New York on 31 Jan 1914. He was unmarried.

Wartime Service

Signed up on 15 Aug 1915 in Canada. Took his Flying Certificate as a Lieutenant in the 48th Bn. Canadian Expeditionary Force in a Maurice Farman Biplane on 24 Feb 1916 at the Military School, Shoreham, West Sussex. Killed in a flying accident at Haslar.

Additional Information

Brother of Captain Frederick Despard Pemberton Royal Flying Corps who was killed in action on 21 Aug 1917 in France and is also commemorated on these memorials.
