Born on 28 May 1895 and baptised on 4 Aug 1895 in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire son of James and Martha Pedder and was living in 1 Salisbury Villas, White’s Road, Hoddesdon in 1901 and in 4 Foresters Cottages, Century Road, Hoddesdon in 1911 as a farm boy.
Wartime Service
Enlisted at Hertford formerly 6072 Hertfordshire Regiment and died in the Metropolitan Hospital, Kingsland Road, North London.
Additional Information
Brother of Sapper Arthur John Pedder who was killed in action on 12 May 1917 and who is also commemorated on some of these memorials. SDITGW records that he was born in the Isle of Man but this is not true.
Robert is buried in a family grave, the headstone (not CWGC) bears the inscription:
PTE. R. PEDDER, ROYAL BERKS REGT.
