Pre War
William George Victor was to born in Melksham, Wilts in 1897 to William George Argent, a mechanic, and Sarah Hannah (nee Hartley). By 1903 the family were living in Cowley, Middx. William at some time came to reside in Hertford.
Wartime Service
William joined Hertfordshire Regiment as private 4947 around May 1915 and later transferred to Royal Irish Rifles 8/9 Battalion (this Battalion had been amalgamated in Oct 1915).
He died of wounds around the time of the action at Bourlon Wood, part of the Battle of Cambrai, Nov 1917.
Additional Information
War Gratuity of £14 10s and arrears of £13 11s 7d paid to his mother.
