Additional Information

His parents were Richard & Elizabeth Mary Allen.  The 1901 census record indicates that the Allen family were living in Hatfield.  It also records that at the time William had two brothers, Albert and Edward; and two sisters, Phoebe and Beatrice.

By 1911 the Allen family had moved from Hatfield to Colney Heath.  The census records for 1911 shows that Phoebe had moved out and there were now two further siblings, Isabel and Joy. The 1911 census also shows that William was single.

William’s brother, Albert, was also a casualty of the Great War.
