Pre War
Born 1st November 1896, in Cold Christmas, Thundridge, Herts. Son of Arthur and Susan Aldridge. Baptised 31st January 1897, in the Parish of Thundridge. His father was an agricultural labourer.
The 1901 Census shows him aged 4 years and living at home with his family in Cold Christmas, Thundridge, Herts. The 1911 Census shows him aged 14 years and living at home with his family at 78 Cold Christmas, Thundridge, Herts.
Arthur was one of three children. His occupation is given as a Plumbers Apprentice on Estate.
Wartime Service
When living in Ware (possibly Cold Christmas) he enlisted in Hertford, into the Hertfordshire Regiment with the Service Number 5892 later transferred to the 6th Battalion Princess Charlotte of Wales (Royal Berkshire Regiment). With the Service Number 36229.
