Pre War

Son of Annie Eliza (nee LANE) and the late Thomas George PARMAN.


His parents married 1880 in the Bethnal Green, London, district.  Thomas died 1914 aged 52; Annie died 1929 aged 69; both in the Shoreditch, London, district.


Alfred was born 1892 in St Luke’s, London, and resided in Watford.


On the 1901 Census, aged 8 he lived in Shoreditch, with his parents and three siblings.  On the 1911 Census, a Private in the 6th Battalion K.R.R.C. aged 18, he was stationed in Woolwich, London.


Officially recorded as born in St Luke's, London and was living in Watford when he enlisted in Stratford, Essex.

Wartime Service

He enlisted in Stratford, London; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 20 December 1914, and was killed in action.  

Additional Information

Unfortunately, Alfred’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
