Son of John Thomas and Charlotte Eliza (nee HAZELL) PARISH.
His parents married 25 December 1877 at St John the Evangelist, Watford. Charlotte died 1920 in Watford aged 66, and was buried 29 October in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford; John died 9 December 1925 in Watford aged 77, and was buried 12 December, also in Vicarage Road Cemetery.
Ernest was born 5 May 1890 in Watford, and baptised 20 June 1890 at St Mary’s, Watford. He attended first Red Lion Yard Infants’ School, Watford; then Beechen Grove Board School, Watford, from 19 January 1898 to 29 April 1904. He resided in Watford.
On the 1891 Census, aged 11 months he lived in Watford, with his parents and five siblings. On the 1901 Census, aged 12, he still lived in Watford, with his parents and five siblings. On the 1911 Census, a Private in the 1st Royal Scots Fusiliers aged 22, he was stationed in Pretoria, Transvaal, South Africa.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in London; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914 Star medals, his qualifying date being 20 October 1914, and died of wounds received in action; he was buried at Gheluvelt.

Is featured in the De Ruvigny's Roll of Honour.
Unfortunately, Ernest’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
