Pre War

Born in 1884 in The Bourne, Ware, son of George and Maria (Ellis) Adams later of 3 Collett Road, Ware, Herts. He became a postman in Ware in Sep 1900. He married Edith Clara Amies in 1914 in Erpingham, Norfolk and they lived at 87 Mill Road, Cromer and had two children.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at Great Yarmouth and was killed in action in France.

Additional Information

Brother of Private Charles Edward Adams who was killed in action on 16 Sep 1916 and of Private Ernest William Adams who died of wounds on 23 Sep 1917 and who are also commemorated on these memorials.


The three brothers who died are also commemorated on their parents’ grave in Ware New Cemetery. Their inscription reads:
