Born on 28 Jul 1874 in Armagh, Ireland son of Major Charles and Emily Blanch (Harrison) Pakenham later of Headon Hall, Alum Bay, Isle of Wight. Educated at the United Services College 1892-93. Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant on 24 Mar 1897 and Lieutenant on 9 Nov 1898. He served in South Africa 1899-1902 and was promoted Captain on 1 May 1902. Retired in 1912 and rejoined in 1914. He married Nancye Fowler on 12 Sep 1900 and had three children.
Wartime Service
Died in the Military Hospital, Boulogne of wounds received in action.

Brother of Lieut Charles John Wingfield Pakenham who was killed in action on 28 Apr 1915 in Gallipoli. United Services College, Westward Ho, Devon amalgamated with Imperial Service College in Windsor in 1912 and then moved to Haileybury College, Hertford
