Pre War

Born in Highgate, enlisted in Mill Hill, son of William (Deceased) and Jane Page and Grandson of William Finch.


He was educated at Arkley School.


Enlisted at Mill Hill on 15 Oct 1906, served until 1911, with 5 years in India.


In the 1901 Census he was living at 3 Jones' Cottages, Arkley with Grandfather and in 1911 Census living at 28 Brunswick Road, Holloway with mother and 3 brothers (All Served). Occupation Soldier.


After leaving the Army he was employed as a Carman by Carter Pattersons.

Wartime Service

Having previously served he was recalled to the Colours in Aug 1914 arriving in France on 31 Aug 1914.


In the 15 Oct 1914 he was wounded and invalided Home.


Returned to the front in Feb 1915 and was killed in action at Neuve Chapelle.

Additional Information

Bother of Albert Page who was KIA 30 Oct 1914, Two further brothers served are believed to have survived. None of the brothers have a Hertfordshire link.

Back pay and gratuities £6 16s 10d paid to mother.
