Pre War
Alfred Page Jn. was born in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, in 1895, son of Alfred Page and Jane/Jenny Page (nee Hayden). One of twelve children, although 2 died in infancy.
1901 Census records Alfred aged 6, at school, living with his parents and four siblings at, 63, Crescent Road, Cheshunt, Herts.
1911 Census records Alfred, working as a Cordite worker at the Royal Small Arms factory, living with his parents, and married sister Florence Brown, still at, 63, Crescent Road. His cousin Alfred Charles Brown is staying with the family. His father Alfred Snr. Died later that year aged 55.
Wartime Service
Alfred enlisted at Edmonton, Middx, posted to the Duke of Cambridges Own (Middlesex Regiment) with the service number G/16100, later transferred to the 12th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment, with the service number 27346. Seeing action on the Western Front.
He was killed in action on 25th July 1916, and is buried in the CWGC Philosophe British Cemetery, Mazingarbe, France.
Additional Information
His mother Jane received a dependents pension of 3/- a week from 13th March 1917, her address was 8 Stanley Street, Ponders End, Middx, and his effects of £1-16s-10d, Pay Owing and a War Gratuity of £3-10s-00d.
