Pre War

Harry was born in 1883 in Little Wymondley. The son of Arthur Odell and Maria Odell (nee Waby). He was Baptised on the 11th February 1883, in Little Wymondley. One of seven children. The 1891 Census records Harry aged 8, living with his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters in Little Wymondley. The 1901 census recorded Harry as aged 18, living with his widowed mother, brother and 2 sisters, in Little Wymondley. His occupation is given as a labourer ploughman. Then in 1911 as still living with his widowed mother, brother Frederick and sister Minnie in Little Wymondley. His occupation is given as a railway labourer platelayer.

Wartime Service

Harry enlisted in Hitchin. He was formerly with the Royal Engineers with the service number 188783. He was transferred to the 13th Battalion and then the 9th Battalion, Manchester Regiment, with the service number 50513. Harry died of his wounds on the 20th October 1918; he is buried in Roisel Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France.
