In 1901 George was living with aunt Julia Graefe and her husband Julius in 3 Devonshire Street, London

In 1911 he was boarding in the house of the Donner family in Blacker Hill Barnsley and working as a printer? in a collier.  In the same census his father and his stepmother Clara were living at 103 Chapter Road, Cricklewood N W.  With Water and unemployed advertising agent.
