Pre War
Herbert was born in 1889 to William and Mary. The 1901 census shows them living in Baldock Road. By 1911 they had moved to Church Street and Herbert is shown as being a Blue Jacket in the Royal Navy.
He enlisted on 30 July 1909 but was discharged on 6 October 1910 due to a heart disorder. He enlisted in the Army and must have got through the medical.
Wartime Service
Enlisted Royston. He died in St Johns VAD Hospital and is buried in Layston
