Born on 2 Jul 1873 in Shoeburyness, Essex son of Maj. Gen. Stuart James Nicholson (Col. Commandant, Royal Artillery) and Elizabeth Anne (Burn) Nicholson of 8 Hope Street, St. Andrews, Fife. Educated at Haileybury College 1887-90. Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant on 21 Oct 1893, Lieutenant 1 Jun 1896 and Captain 12 Jul 1899. Served as Adjutant of Imperial Yeomanry from 8 Mar 1907. Served in the Sudan and in South African Campaigns.

Wartime Service

He died of wounds in Crefeld, a German prisoner of war camp for officers north of Dusseldorf.
