Son of Elizabeth Emma BAKER (formerly NARROWAY, nee DOGGETT) of Watford, and the late William NARROWAY.
His parents married 27 May 1882 at St Mary’s, Watford. William died 1897 in Watford aged 38, and was buried 13 October in Vicarage Road Cemetery. Elizabeth remarried 8 April 1901 at St Mary’s, Watford, to James BAKER. James died 1915 in Watford aged 52, and was buried 14 April in Vicarage Road Cemetery; Elizabeth died 1933 in Watford aged 73, and was buried 1 January 1934, also in Vicarage Road Cemetery.
William was born 1887 in Watford, and baptised 14 January 1887 at St Mary’s, Watford. He was buried 16 August.
On the 1891 Census, a scholar aged 4 he lived in Watford, with his parents and three siblings. On the 1901 Census, aged 15 he lived in Bushey, Herts, with his widowed mother and five siblings. On the 1911 Census, a house painter aged 23, he lived in Watford, with his mother, step-father and five siblings.
Wartime Service
He was formerly in the Army Service Corps; was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 26 June 1915, and died in Bermondsey Military Hospital, Lewisham, London.
Additional Information
Unfortunately, William’s Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing; nor does he appear to have an entry in Soldiers Died in the Great War 1914-1919.
