Pre War

Born on 27 Dec 1881 in Newport, Monmouthshire son of William and Martha Emily (Goss) Mullock. Educated at Haileybury College 1896-98. He married Margaret Maud Bavin in 1909 in Blofield, Norfolk and they lived in Cwybran, Monmouthshire in 1911.

Wartime Service

He had served in the South African War. He entered France in 1914 and was badly wounded at the Battle of the Aisne and invalided home. After his return he was appointed Captain and Adjutant of the West Ham Battalion (13th Essex) during its formation period. He was promoted to Major and then became Commanding Officer of the 2nd Essex. He was killed while returning from a C.O.s conference at Fampoux near Arras.
