Royal Masonic School Memorial, Rickmansworth

Pre War

Born on 17 Apr 1884 in Newcastle-on-Tyne, Northumberland son of Charles William and Sarah Muir. Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1894-99, he became Head Shipping Clerk in Newcastle.

Wartime Service

Enlisted as a Sergeant in the Tyneside Commercial Battalion in 1914 and obtained a commission as 2nd Lieutenant, East Yorkshire Regiment. He entered the war in Egypt on 26 Dec 1915 and was then transferred to France and was killed in action four weeks later during night operations at Colincamps.
