Pre War

Born on 28 Mar 1878 in Montrose, son of Lieut.-Col. Anthony Oliver and Ann Elizabeth (Smith) Molesworth of Cruxfield, Alms, Berwickshire. Educated at the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich. He married Hilda Rosalie Brownlow on 31 May 1905 in London and they lived at South Lodge, Hoddesdon with two children.

Wartime Service

Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant R.E. on 23 Mar 1898 and Lieutenant on 14 Feb 1901. He took part in the Tibet expedition 1903-04. He was promoted Captain on 23 Mar 1907 and attached to the 2nd Queen Victoria’s Own Sappers and Miners based in Bangalore becoming Company Commander in Apr 1911. He entered France on 16 Oct 1914 with the Indian Expeditionary Force, was promoted Major on 30 Oct 1914 and then was accidentally shot at St Hilaire.
