Pre War

Born on 26 Apr 1893 and baptised on 28 May 1893 in Withington, Manchester son of Walter Barnes and Nora (Kyllmann) Dendy later of Quarry Bank, Tackley, Oxford. Educated at Haileybury College 1907-12 (Head of School) and Balliol College, Oxford (Downs Exhibitioner and B.A. 1914).

Wartime Service

Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the A.S.C. in Aug 1914 and promoted to Lieutenant in Oct 1915. Entered France on 10 May 1915 and was severely wounded in Jul 1916. Killed in action in Belgium.
