Pre War
Born on 25 Apr 1880 in Kensington, London son of Joseph Jacob and Ann Eliza Michael. Educated at the Royal Masonic School 1889-95 he then became clerk to the Auditor of the Corporation of Birmingham.
Wartime Service
Enlisted in Sep 1915 in Birmingham formerly 3226, Private, 3rd /1st Warwick Yeomanry, he was pronounced unfit for overseas service and worked in the Southern Record Office in Warwick from Apr 1916 to Jun 1917. He was then allowed to go to France with the Royal Sussex Regiment (291236) but was hospitalised in Mar 1918. On his discharge he was transferred to the 2nd Lincolns but was captured on 27 Apr 1918 and spent sixteen weeks in Hospital at Friedrichsveld suffering from weakness and exhaustion and died in the Prisoners’ Hospital at Camp 6972, Giessen, Germany.
