Haileybury College Cloister Wall Memorial, Hertford Heath

Pre War

Born on 7 Jul 1891 and baptised on 2 Aug 1891 in Clewer, Windsor, Berkshire son of James Dixon and Hope Gertrude Sykes. Educated at Haileybury College 1906-08 he became a solicitor’s articled clerk and later lived at 109 Ebury Street, Middlesex.

Wartime Service

Formerly gazetted 2nd Lieutenant Royal Fusiliers on 26 Feb 1915 and entered France on 30 Jul 1915. He was attached to the Royal Flying Corps and was killed accidentally in France.

Additional Information

Brother of Lieutenant Jack Aubrey Sykes who was killed in action on 3 Oct 1918 and of Captain Ronald Arthur Sykes who died of wounds on 28 Apr 1917 and are all commemorated on these memorials.
