Born in Maidenhead about 1886. He was the husband of Martha Maskell of 6 or 17 Stanley Cottages, Rickmansworth.

The 1911 census shows William as a blacksmith living at Nags Head Lane Great Missenden with his wife whom he married about 1900 and their two children William Arthur, 7 and Walter 1.

Recorded as enlisting in Watford.

Wartime Service

He entered the Army Service Corps as a farrier corporal and was then promoted to Sergeant.

He died in a military hospital in Richmond, Surrey
