Born in 1885 in Ware, Hertfordshire son of George and Emma Martin and was living at 9 Princes Street, Ware in 1901 and 1911 when he was a master labourer.
Wartime Service
Enlisted at Hertford, entered France on 10 Jul 1915 and was killed in action.
He was escorting some German prisoners from the front at the Battle of the Ancre when he was shot by a German officer prisoner who had managed to hide his revolver. The German officer did not survive.
