Born on the 27th April 1899 in Wadesmill, Herts. Son of John Marshall as Shepherd and Emma Marshall. He was Baptised on the 21st May 1899, in High Cross, Herts. and was one of six children.
Two brothers also served in the army, according to the Herts & Essex Observer. The 1901 records Frank, aged 1, as living with his parents, 2 brothers and sister, in Wades Mill, Herts. In 1911 he was at school and living with his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters at 17 Wades Mill, Ware, Herts. He was a resident of Ware, Herts.
Wartime Service
Frank enlisted in Hertford about March 1917 and went to the front in April 1918.
He was "a well-disposed lad" according to the paper. He appears to have enlisted straight into the Queen's,
