Haileybury College Cloister Wall Memorial, Hertford Heath

Pre War

Born on 24 May 1878 in Ashton, Weston-super-Mare, Somerset son of Major Neville Mansergh (Royal Warwickshire Regt.), and Ann Elizabeth (Gibbs) Mansergh. Educated at Haileybury College 1892-94. Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant 1st Bn. Royal Irish Regiment on 9 Dec 1899. Served in South Africa 1899-1902 and Swaziland 1902-05. He retired from the army and entered the Colonial Service spending 8 years in East Africa. He married Mary Isabel Mumby of Udimore Cottage, Otterbourne, Winchester and had one daughter.

Wartime Service

On the outbreak of the war he returned to England and received a commission in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment on 19 Jun 1915. He entered France on 4 Aug 1915 and was killed during the Battle of Loos.
