Pre War

Born in Oct 1886 in Redbourn, Herts. He married Florence Reynolds on 3 Jul 1909 in St Albans and had four children. They lived in 12 Orchard Street, St Albans and he was a carman.

Address later given as 12 Orchard, Street, St Albans.

Wartime Service

Enlisted at St Albans on 9 Dec 1915 formerly Private 16173, Army Veterinary Corps. Embarked at Southampton and entered France at Le Havre on18 Apr 1916 and returned on 10 Aug 1916. He was then transferred to the 76th Training Reserve Bn. on 11 Jan 1917 and was posted to France again on 14 Jan 1917 with the 1st Bn. Loyal North Lancs. He died of wounds in No. 141 Field ambulance on the Somme.
