Pre War
Percy East Lones was born in 1886 in Hendon, London, the son of Thomas and Louisa Lones and one of three children.
On the 1891 Census the family were living at 43 Lower Paddock Road, Bushey, where his father was working as a Civil Service examiner of patents. By 1901 they had moved to 37 St Albans Road, Watford with his father continuing to work in the patent office.
Percy was educated at University College and University College Hospital, London, appearing on the Medical Students Register for 1905, having registered on 10 October. He graduated in 1915 and was listed on the 1917 Medical Register as living at Dudley House, Upper Highway, King's Langley, Herts.
He married Marian Wadsworth on 6 April 1915 at Willesden Green, Middlesex and their daughter Nancy was born the following year.
His parents later lived at 'Chilvers Coton', Alexander Road, Watford, Herts.
Wartime Service
Percy joined the army as a Lieutenant and initially served in India from 14 March 1916 with the 1st Durham Light Infantry. He was later transferred to the Royal Army Medical Corps and promoted to Captain.
He was killed by a shell while on duty with the 5th Field Ambulance regimental aid post at Oppy, near Bailleul on 28 April 1917, and is buried in Roclincourt Military Cemetery, Arras, France.

His widow received arrears of pay totalling £93 12s.
Percy is commemorated on his family’s grave in Langleybury (St. Paul) Churchyard. His inscription reads:
