Charlotte died of influenza at Blandford Camp in November 1918 during the 1918 flu pandemic, whilst serving with the Women’s Royal Air Force.

The RAF Museum holds her Death Plaque (the only one they have named to a woman): Mbr Charlotte Annie Day who died of influenza at Blandford Camp in November 1918 during the 1918 flu pandemic. Plaques in memory of women lead to the inscription “HE DIED IN HONOVR” having to be cast smaller making room a narrower “H” to replace the “S” making SHE DIED IN HONOVR (the letter V is used in place of a U). The plaques were issued with a letter of condolence from the King and a memorial scroll with the individuals name hand written in ink.
Charlotte is also commemorated on his family’s grave in St. Albans (Hatfield Road) Cemetery. Her part of the inscription reads:
