Harry Lewis was probably born in 1892 in Albury, but his parents have not yet been found.  In 1901 he was living in Sawbridgeworth and age 9 as listed as a boarder with William and Jane Pavitt; William was a bricklayer’s labourer.  He has not been found in the 1911 census. 


He enlisted in Bishops Stortford shortly after the outbreak of war, his residence is given as Albury in army records.

Wartime Service

He arrived in France in October 1914 as in the 3rd Dragoon Guards.
