We are not able to positively identify this A E Lewis at this time.
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission contains 31 ‘A E’ Lewis and 100 ‘A’ Lewis and the ‘Soldiers died’ database 32 ‘A.E.’ Lewis and 138 ‘A’ Lewis - there will of course be duplication between them. None of these men have an obvious connection to Hitchin. Nor do the WW1 pension cards, De Ruvigny Roll of Honour or National Roll of the Great War.
