Son of Helen (nee BUSHNELL) LEADER of Watford, and the late Charles LEADER.
His parents married 1893 in the Cookham, Berks, district. Charles died 1909 in Watford aged 40, and was buried 31 July in Vicarage Road Cemetery, Watford. Helen remarried 1922 in the Paddington, London, district to Frederick J SMITH; she died 1953 in Watford aged 81, and was buried 9 July, also in Vicarage Road Cemetery.
Edwin was born 1894 in Hollyport or Bray, Berks, and resided in Watford.
On the 1901 Census, aged 7 he lived in Watford, with his parents and two siblings. On the 1911 Census, a packer aged 17, he still lived in Watford, with his widowed mother and two siblings.
Wartime Service
He enlisted in London, and was formerly Private 3228 6th Battalion London Regiment.
He was entitled to the Victory, British War and 1914-15 Star medals, his qualifying date being 18 August 1915.
He was awarded the Military Medal, and was killed in action.

Unfortunately, Edwin’ Service Record appears to be one that did not survive the World War Two bombing.
